My education:
I am a registered counselor in the state of Washington (RC#OOO56610) and a member of the National Eating Disorders Association. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Literature from the University of Washington and my Masters of Arts in Psychology from Antioch University Seattle. Both my undergraduate and graduate work focused primarily on eating disorders although my experience includes work with depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Additionally, in order to provide my clients with the highest quality of care, I currently work and consult with Kara Bazzi, MS, LMFT, a therapist with extensive experience in the field of eating disorders and body image concerns.
My approach to therapy:
In my practice, I take a client-centered approach but combine this with an individual psychology perspective. I see myself as your partner in recovery. Together, we will examine your experiences and goals, as well as your beliefs and feelings about yourself, others, and the world around you. This will help us to understand the role that your symptoms are playing in your life. I believe that eating disorders go far beyond the physical symptoms and thus, our work together may also include emotional, spiritual, psychological, and relational components.
As your therapist, my commitment is to work with you to both manage the symptoms that are causing your current distress and to understand the issues that caused the struggle to begin with. Together, we will work to determine the changes that need to occur as well as the steps necessary to achieve this goal.1107 NE 45th St, Ste 410
